A pack of 16 paracetamol 500mg tablets, a licensed analgesic and antipyretic medicine for the short-term relief of mild to moderate pain and fever in adults and children aged 10 years and over.

Paracetamol 500mg Tablets contain paracetamol, one of the most widely used and clinically well-established over-the-counter medicines in the UK, providing effective relief from a wide range of painful and febrile conditions including headaches, migraine, toothache, backache, period pain, neuralgia, sore throat, rheumatic and muscular pain and cold and flu symptoms, working by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system to raise the pain threshold and reduce elevated body temperature. Unlike ibuprofen and other NSAIDs, paracetamol is generally considered gentler on the stomach and is suitable for a broader range of people including those who cannot tolerate anti-inflammatory medicines, and it can be taken with or without food. Each white tablet contains 500mg of paracetamol and is swallowed whole with a glass of water, with adults taking 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as required, not exceeding 8 tablets in any 24-hour period and not taking for more than three days without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings and cautions

• Do not take if you are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other listed ingredients.
• Do not take any other products containing paracetamol at the same time, including cold and flu remedies. Taking too much paracetamol can cause serious liver damage.
• Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have liver or kidney problems, chronic alcoholism, are malnourished, or are taking flucloxacillin, warfarin or other anticoagulants.
• If you take too much paracetamol, seek immediate medical attention even if you feel well. Do not exceed the stated dose. Do not take for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor. Always read the leaflet.

How to use

1. Adults and children over 16 years: take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as required. Children aged 10 to 15 years: take 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours as required, to a maximum of 4 doses in 24 hours. Swallow whole with a glass of water.
2. Do not take more than 8 tablets (4 doses) in any 24-hour period. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
