Warnings and cautions

• Do not use if you have nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain unless advised by a doctor.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment; may increase risk of hyperphosphataemia.
• Not suitable for prolonged use—do not use for more than two weeks unless directed by a doctor.
• Patients should drink plenty of clear fluids to prevent dehydration during use.
• Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement may indicate a serious condition—stop use and consult a doctor.
• Do not use in children under 3 years of age.
• Use with caution if taking calcium channel blockers, diuretics, lithium, or medications that affect electrolyte levels.
• Stop administration if resistance is felt to prevent injury.
• Highly flammable—keep away from flames.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.

How to use

1. Adults and children over 12 years: Administer one 118ml dose rectally, no more than once.
2. Children 3 to under 12 years: Use only as directed by a physician.
3. Lie on your left side with both knees bent and arms relaxed.
4. Remove the orange protective shield.
5. Gently insert the Comfortip nozzle into the anus, pointing towards the navel.
6. Squeeze the bottle until nearly all liquid is expelled. Do not force if resistance is felt.
7. Return the used enema to the carton for safe disposal.
8. Relief is usually felt within 2 to 5 minutes. Discontinue use and consult a doctor if delayed.
9. Intended for short-term relief only.
