A specialist follow-on formula for the dietary management of cow's milk allergy in infants from 6 months, developed to support healthy growth alongside weaning.

Aptamil Pepti 2 is a food for special medical purposes, formulated by Nutricia for the dietary management of cow's milk allergy (CMA) in infants from 6 months of age. It is designed to be used as part of a cow's milk-free weaning diet, providing a nutritionally appropriate alternative for babies who require an extensively hydrolysed formula during the complementary feeding stage. The protein in Aptamil Pepti 2 is derived from 100% whey and has been extensively hydrolysed broken down into smaller fragments to significantly reduce the likelihood of an allergic reaction in susceptible infants.

The formula is additionally fortified with calcium, vitamin D and iron to help support the nutritional requirements of infants who may be following an elimination diet, where these micronutrients can be harder to obtain from dietary sources alone. Aptamil Pepti 2 also contains lactose, which contributes to the palatability of the formula and supports acceptance at feeding time. It is the only extensively hydrolysed formula to include a prebiotic blend of galacto and fructo-oligosaccharides (GOS/FOS), long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs) in the form of Omega-3 and Omega-6, and nucleotides.

As a food for special medical purposes, Aptamil Pepti 2 must only be used under medical supervision, after full consideration of all feeding options available, including breastfeeding. Warnings and cautions

• This is a food for special medical purposes and must be used under medical supervision, after full consideration of all feeding options including breastfeeding.
• Breastfeeding is best for babies. Use only on the advice of a healthcare professional.
• Powdered infant formula is not sterile. Failure to follow preparation instructions may make your baby ill.
• Do not heat feeds in a microwave hot spots may occur and cause scalding. Never add extra scoops or anything else to your baby's feed.
• Store in a cool, dry place. Do not refrigerate. Use contents within four weeks of opening.
• If your baby experiences an allergic reaction after consuming this product, stop use immediately and consult your GP or pharmacist.

How to use

1. Wash hands thoroughly and sterilise all utensils according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Boil 1 litre of freshly run water. Leave the kettle to cool for no longer than 30 minutes, then measure the required amount into a sterilised bottle (refer to the feeding guide on pack). Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
3. Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with the built-in leveller. Do not press or heap the powder. Add the correct measure to the water — adding too many or too few scoops can be harmful.
4. Cap the bottle and shake vigorously for 25 seconds until the powder is fully dissolved. Remove the cap and replace with a sterilised teat.
5. Cool under a running tap and check the temperature on the inside of your wrist before feeding. Feed immediately and discard any unfinished feed within 2 hours.
